Lhasa, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) — All 350 hikers stranded by heavy snowfall in Tingri County, Shigatse City, Xizang Autonomous Region, southwest China, had safely reached their collection point as of the evening of October 5, local sources reported Monday.

According to information released by the Tingri County Integrated Media Center, contact has also been established with more than 200 other tourists who are heading to the assembly point in Qudan Township following instructions from county officials.

Heavy snowfall hit the county on the evening of October 4, creating problems for hikers on mountain trails near the village of Qudan. County authorities quickly mobilized emergency teams to establish communications and provide assistance to those affected.

A video released Monday evening by the Shigatse city news service shows all the tourists who arrived in Qudan being accommodated, receiving hot meals, and undergoing medical examinations. Their condition is assessed as satisfactory, and some have already returned home.

On October 5, Tingri County authorities announced the temporary closure of several tourist areas, including the Mount Qomolangma Landscape Park, due to heavy snowfall. –0–
