Paris, October 6 (Xinhua) — French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu resigned on Monday, less than a month after taking office, setting a new record for the longest-serving prime minister in the Fifth Republic. President Emmanuel Macron accepted his resignation, the Elysee Palace press service announced.
In a statement, S. Lecornu acknowledged that the formation of the government “did not go smoothly,” noting that the conditions for his stay in office “are no longer met.”
