Tbilisi, October 5 (Xinhua) — Vote counting has been completed at all polling stations in Georgia following the municipal elections. According to the Central Election Commission (CEC), the ruling Georgian Dream party holds the lead. CEC spokesperson Natia Ioseliani announced this at a briefing on Sunday.

According to her, according to the proportional voting data in Tbilisi, the Georgian Dream party received 70.05 percent of the vote. Next came the Girchi party with 7.698 percent and Conservatives for Georgia with 4.308 percent.

Municipal elections were held in Georgia on Saturday. Citizens voted for mayors: five mayors of self-governing cities and 59 mayors of districts. To win, a candidate must receive more than 50% of the votes cast. A total of 3,513,818 Georgian citizens cast ballots, and representatives of 28 international and 27 local observer organizations monitored the elections.
