WUHAN, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) — Five people were killed and eight others were injured in a traffic accident in central China's Hubei Province on Saturday, the Lichuan City Public Security Bureau said Sunday.
The accident occurred around 5:00 PM in Wangying, a town in the aforementioned city. A preliminary investigation revealed that the driver, a 54-year-old woman surnamed Xiong, confused the gas and brake pedals.
The offender was detained. No traces of alcohol or drugs were found in her blood. The victims' lives are not in danger. -0-
