KATHMANDU, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) — Nepal police said Sunday that 14 people were killed and eight were missing in a rain-triggered landslide.
"Landslides have claimed the lives of 14 people in Ilam district, while four others are missing. Flooding in Rasuwa district has left four tourists missing," Binod Ghimire, a Nepal Police spokesman, told Xinhua.
Among those killed in Ilam, six were from one family, and five from another, B. Ghimire noted.
Incessant rains since Friday have affected daily life in most parts of Nepal, causing landslides and floods that have blocked highways and roads.
A three-day ban on entry and exit of vehicles from the Kathmandu Valley has been imposed from Saturday. –0–
