Jerusalem, October 4 (Xinhua) — Israel has halted all military offensive operations to capture Gaza City, switching to a purely defensive position. This was reported by leading local media on Saturday morning.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump demanded that Israel immediately cease bombing Gaza. Prior to this, Hamas responded positively to the White House's 20-point peace plan, stating that it was, in principle, prepared to release all 48 Israeli hostages held in Gaza.
Israel is also reportedly planning to send a negotiating team to discuss the details of the agreement, which includes a ceasefire in Gaza, the return of hostages, the release of Palestinians from Israeli prisons, and international oversight of reconstruction and governance in the Palestinian enclave after the conflict ends.
