Tbilisi, October 3 (Xinhua) — Municipal elections in Georgia scheduled for October 4 will be held at 3,061 polling stations across the country, Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Georgia Giorgi Kalandarishvili said on Friday.

The Chairman of the Central Election Commission also noted that the total number of registered voters is 3,513,818 people, of whom 3,130,348 will take part in voting using electronic technology.

According to him, 12 political parties will participate in the elections. Nine mayoral candidates have been registered in Tbilisi, and 112 candidates in 63 other municipalities.

“During the elections, Georgian citizens will elect 2,058 members of 64 municipal assemblies (sakrebulo), as well as 64 mayors of cities and districts,” noted G. Kalandarishvili.

Representatives of 28 international and 27 local organizations have been accredited to observe the election process. International observers include delegations from Bulgaria, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, Slovakia, Montenegro, Turkey, Moldova, and other countries.
