The forum's plenary session will take place in Makhachkala on October 3.
Dear friends!
I am pleased to welcome you to the II International Forum “Sustainable Development of Mountain Territories”.
It brings together leading experts, representatives of educational and research institutions, business communities, and public organizations. It provides a unique opportunity to discuss the most pressing issues, exchange best practices, find comprehensive solutions, and strengthen interstate cooperation.
Mountain ecosystems occupy a quarter of the planet's surface and provide clean water to more than half the world's population. Current climate change is causing glaciers to melt, leading to negative global consequences. Today, the international community faces serious challenges, including preserving the ecological balance, landscape and biological diversity, and the sustainable use of water and mineral resources. This is why holding such large-scale events is particularly important.
I am confident that the forum's constructive discussions will yield many interesting ideas and proposals. In collaboration with our international colleagues, we will develop specific mechanisms for adapting mountain regions to climate change, and adopt joint initiatives aimed at protecting the environment, improving the socioeconomic well-being, and improving the quality of life of people living in these areas.
I wish all participants fruitful work, success and all the best.
M. Mishustin
