LOS ANGELES, October 3 (Xinhua) — A major fire broke out Thursday evening at a Chevron refinery in El Segundo, Los Angeles County, California, U.S., local media reported.

Firefighters and police arrived at the scene after several reports of an explosion. According to media reports, the plant's own fire department is currently battling the fire and has managed to prevent the blaze from spreading to other areas of the plant.
