Hanoi, October 2 (Xinhua) — Typhoon Bualoi, the 10th storm to hit Vietnam this year, and the ensuing floods and landslides have claimed 49 lives, left 16 missing, and injured 153. Preliminary economic losses are estimated at nearly 12.8 trillion dong (about 518 million U.S. dollars), the Vietnamese daily Nhan Zan (People's Daily) reported on Thursday.

The typhoon destroyed 200 homes, damaged or left more than 169,000 without roofs, and flooded another 64,800. More than 80,600 hectares of rice fields and other agricultural crops were also flooded, and over 21,000 head of livestock and nearly 500,000 birds perished.

The typhoon damaged numerous public infrastructure facilities. Flooding and landslides blocked more than 7,500 roads.

Authorities continue to assess damage, restore essential services, and provide assistance to affected residents.

According to local media outlet VnExpress, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front has received 672 billion dong (about $27.2 million) in donations by Thursday to support people affected by Typhoon Bualoi.
