Beijing, October 2 (Xinhua) — China's cumulative box office revenue since the start of 2025 has already surpassed that of 2024, according to data from the Chinese ticketing platform Maoyan.
According to the Maoyan platform, as of 2:16 p.m. on Thursday, the year-to-date box office revenue, including pre-sales, reached 42.5 billion yuan (about $5.98 billion), exceeding the 2024 figure.
Domestic films continue to dominate the market, accounting for almost 90 percent of ticket sales, and all ten of the year's highest-grossing films were domestically produced. -0-
