The "Lost Garden" exhibition opens in Pavilion No. 29, "Floriculture and Landscaping," at the Biocluster at VDNKh. It is a joint project between the Timiryazev State Biological Museum and the HSE School of Design and Art and Design. The exhibition features works by students and graduates of the HSE School of Design and Art and Design.
The pavilion will be transformed into an immersive space, where the garden will symbolize the human soul and inner world. The exhibition is structured as a sequential journey through several thematic zones. The exhibition features ceramic sculptures: animal figures, abstract images of people and nature, and symbolic compositions. All of these are harmoniously combined with the plants. However, some exhibits can only be discovered upon closer inspection.
"The exhibition draws on the museum's resources and collections, which focus not on classical art but on scientific subjects. This is what makes the project unique: together with the students, we're exploring biological materials and motifs, trying to demonstrate how special and deeply personal the union of humanity, nature, and art can be," said Alexandra Zakharova, the project's curator.
A key exhibit at the exhibition will be the digital fantasy project "Flower Horoscope," created by the art group Agey Tomesh. The artists have created a collection of 366 flower images—one for each day of the year. Each image is accompanied by a description of the flower, its characteristics, and the personality of the person born on that day.
The exhibition's concept will be summarized by a video projection depicting a pulsating, ever-growing garden. It symbolizes the human inner world, where memory and dreams, temptations and losses, strength and vulnerability are intertwined.
"Today, the Biocluster allows the Biological Museum to expand the scope of its partnership projects. The "Lost Garden" exhibition will be a key milestone in the long-standing relationship between the museum and the HSE School of Art and Design. This is not just a project, but a new stage in the museum's collaboration with the country's largest educational institutions," noted Igor Ryabokon, Director of the Timiryazev State Biological Museum.
The exhibition will run until October 31.
"Biocluster" is a new multidisciplinary project by the K.A. Timiryazev State Biological Museum, located at VDNKh. It unites several thematic pavilions and garden and park areas.
