During a working visit to the Kaluga Region, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, along with Governor Vladislav Shapsha, congratulated the faculty and students of Logos College at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary St. Paphnutius Borovsky Monastery on Secondary Vocational Education Day and also assessed the educational and tourism infrastructure.
The college was established in 2024 at the request of Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and is part of the "Professionalism" federal project of the "Youth and Children" national project.
Dmitry Chernyshenko thanked the regional leadership, the monastery's abbot, Hieromonk Paphnutius, and the builders.
"I want to congratulate you all. Today marks the 85th anniversary of the secondary vocational education system. This is the largest educational system in our country: over 3,000 colleges and technical schools, with approximately 4 million students enrolled. I am very glad that you have joined this student family. This is the most exciting time of your lives. Now you are gaining knowledge and a truly profound upbringing. Right here, a spiritual tuning fork is at your fingertips, which will set you in the right mood. This wonderful place embodies the combination of the spiritual, the secular, and the scientific. Our President, Vladimir Putin, has set a national goal of realizing the potential of every person and developing their talents. And here, every opportunity has been created for this," the Deputy Prime Minister noted.
In response to student questions, Dmitry Chernyshenko discussed his path in programming and building a family during his student years, career prospects in Information Systems and Programming, and the economic model of Russian high-performance sports.
Vladislav Shapsha thanked the Russian government for its support in the creation of Logos and Dmitry Chernyshenko for visiting the institution on the 85th anniversary of secondary vocational education. The regional governor explained that this is the first college opened in the region since the collapse of the Soviet Union and the first technical educational institution in the country established under the auspices of the Russian Orthodox Church.
The governor addressed the first students: "Guys, you're truly lucky. You have a wonderful future, I'm sure of it. But you'll have to work hard to get there. Your teachers are wonderful, professional, and they'll give you everything you need. Whether you take it or not is entirely up to you."
As part of the "Professionalism" program, the first 90 students began mastering in-demand specialties, including information technology and security, and radio-technical information systems. One of the curricula—"Installation, Maintenance, and Repair of Biotechnical and Medical Equipment"—was included in the secondary vocational education curriculum for the first time. Specialists with this qualification are in demand at many medical institutions, including the National Medical Research Center of Radiology. In addition to the core program, additional education is provided, where young men and women study in-depth the history of their country and native land, as well as the foundations of Orthodox culture.
Dmitry Chernyshenko and Vladislav Shapsha, along with the monastery's abbot, Hieromonk Paphnutius, also assessed the infrastructure of the St. Paphnutius Borovsk Monastery and its tourist attractions.
In particular, a large-scale improvement project, "Six Centuries under the Protection of Paphnutius," was completed in Borovsk, located within the monastery garden. The project was named the winner of the 9th All-Russian Competition for the Best Projects to Create a Comfortable Urban Environment in 2024 in the "Historical Settlements" category.
The Deputy Prime Minister also assessed the modular, non-permanent accommodation facilities on the grounds of the Monastery Ponds complex. The project was implemented with the aim of promoting family and pilgrimage tourism.
