A bust of German Titov, cosmonaut, Hero of the Soviet Union, Doctor of Military Sciences, and the first person to complete a long-duration space flight, was installed on Cosmonauts' Alley near the Cosmonautics Museum (111 Mira Avenue).
The monument was created by a team of sculptors including Alexander Alubaev and architects Sergei Kolobov and Ildar Salimov. The All-Russian public organization "Russian Cosmonautics Federation" initiated the installation.
The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of federal and Moscow authorities, public and scientific institutions, relatives and friends of German Titov, as well as Muscovites and guests of the capital.

In August 1961, Gherman Titov completed the first long-duration, multi-orbit flight aboard the Vostok 2 spacecraft, proving that it was possible to remain in space for extended periods. Furthermore, Gherman Titov became the first person to manually control a spacecraft and film the Earth from space. On August 9, 1961, for his courage and heroism during the space flight, he was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union.
He spent the rest of his life serving in aviation and cosmonautics, making significant contributions to the scientific and technological development of the space industry and being an active public and government figure.
