On Senior Generation Day, the "Moscow Longevity" project is launching two citywide events. Muscovites will be able to thank their "silver"-aged relatives on media façades throughout the city and also join them for walks along specially designed routes. Anastasia Rakova, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Social Development.
"Senior Generation Day is an event that gives us a new opportunity to appreciate the wisdom, experience, and warmth of our older relatives. To imbue this day with special meaning, Moscow Longevity is offering residents two touching events, which we hope will spark new family traditions. The first will allow everyone to publicly thank their parents and grandparents. Warm words from Muscovites will appear on media facades throughout the city and in a special art installation in Novopushkinsky Square, which will be on view until October 15. The second event is an invitation to spend time with loved ones and appreciate Moscow's picturesque autumn. We've prepared 15 special routes through various corners of the capital. You can start the day at the Moscow Longevity Center, where guests will receive a route map. Participants are guaranteed to walk at least six thousand steps, learn a lot, and feel good. You can join the event starting October 1," said Anastasia Rakova.
Go for a walk
The "Day Together" initiative invites Muscovites to spend time with their parents, grandparents, and other senior loved ones. Fifteen routes have been prepared for participants—one for each district and five for the city center. The ideal starting point is the nearest Moscow Longevity Center. There, you can pick up a printed route map, enjoy delicious tea together in a cozy living room, play board games, tennis, or billiards, and even measure your emotional state with a modern neuroheadset before getting ready for the walk. For those visiting the center for the first time, staff will give a tour and explain the project's capabilities in detail.
To make sure that shared walks truly become a good tradition, electronic versions of the routes will be available for download at any time onwebsite.
The routes are designed to allow Muscovites to visit several of the capital's most picturesque and popular sites in one day. For example, a walk through the Central Administrative District will pass by the Gorky Moscow Art Academic Theater, the State Tretyakov Gallery, and the Illusion Cinema. Each route will pass by a variety of places—from parks to museums and contemporary art galleries—so Muscovites have plenty of options for their leisure activities.
You can start the route from the following Moscow longevity centers: Presnensky (Presnensky Val Street, Building 14, Bldg. 5), Zamoskvorechye (Sadovnicheskaya Embankment, Building 47a), Tagansky-2 (Zemlyanoy Val Street, Building 68, Bldg. 1), Aeroport (Chernyakhovskogo Street, Building 14), Izmailovo (9th Parkovaya Street, Building 5a), VDNKh (Mira Avenue, Building 119, Bldg. 227), Novo-Peredelkino (Borovskoye Highway, Building 32), Severnoye Tushino (Khimkinsky Boulevard, Building 14, Bldg. 1), Krasnopakhorsky-3 (Shchapovo Settlement, Building 58), Savelki (ZelAO, Savelki District, Building 320), Tverskoy-2 (27 Malaya Dmitrovka Street), Khamovniki (3 Timura Frunze Street, Building 4), Teply Stan (152b Profsoyuznaya Street), Nagatinsky Zaton (34 Nagatinskaya Embankment), and Kuzminki (52 Yunyh Lenintsev Street). You can also pick up a walking map there.
Say a sincere thank you
The "Say Thank You to Your Seniors" campaign offers an opportunity to publicly express love and appreciation to seniors. On a dedicated website thankyoustarshim.rf Everyone can write a few warm words to their parents, grandparents or other loved ones.
The most touching messages will appear on media facades throughout the city. A message may also appear on the screen of the "Everything Here Is Not Accidental" art installation in Novopushkinsky Square. To do so, use the touch panel nearby to write kind words to loved ones. The main character of the art installation is a cat, personifying the comfort of home, wisdom, and warmth bestowed by the older generation. His nine lives are a metaphor for the endless possibilities of starting over at any age. A ball of yarn lies next to the cat, symbolizing the warmth of family ties and the connection between generations, and a retro television is installed next to him. Its screen will broadcast words of gratitude from Muscovites to their older loved ones.
The artist behind this artwork is Russian artist Vladimir Ivanov, a resident of the Moscow contemporary art gallery Askeri Gallery. In his works, he transforms familiar childhood images, imbuing them with new power and turning them into symbols of joy, warmth, and lightness. The gallery supported the "Say Thank Your Elders" campaign by creating a contemporary art installation on the theme of the "Moscow Longevity" project and the connection between generations. Such projects help art move beyond exhibition spaces and become part of the urban environment—on the streets, in parks, and in community centers.
The installation will be on display in Novopushkinsky Square until October 15. You can write your gratitude to the older generation right there on the spot, using a special touch panel.
Take part in the Self-Government Day
This weekend, October 4th and 5th, Moscow's longevity centers will host the "Self-Government Day" event. The project's participants will serve as the main hosts. They will welcome guests, share their experiences, and host various events, including creative workshops, mini-tournaments in billiards and table tennis, dance and drawing lessons, and concerts. Additionally, the 2025 film "Batya-2. Grandfather" will be shown at all Moscow longevity centers on this day.
The Moscow 2030 Forum discussed the participation of older generations in the city's economy.Participants of the Moscow Longevity project presented looks from collections of Moscow brands at Moscow Fashion Week.
Self-Government Day is a wonderful opportunity for the whole family—children, parents, and grandparents—to spend time together and learn about the Moscow Longevity project and its participants.
