MALE, October 1 (Xinhua) — The Maldives is ready to further deepen cooperation with China in various fields to build a sustainable and prosperous future. This was stated by President Mohamed Mu'izzu on Tuesday at a reception to mark the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC) and the Mid-Autumn Festival, organized by the Chinese Embassy in the Maldives.

The President noted that China is one of the most dynamic and influential countries in the world, which has achieved significant success in reducing poverty and developing science, technology, and infrastructure.

"For the Maldives, China has never been just a distant friend. Our ties are rooted not only in agreements and exchanges, but also in memories, shared journeys, and the trust that comes with true friendship," added M. Muizzu.

The President praised China's commitment to multilateralism, its efforts to protect the rights of developing countries, and its desire to build a world based on mutual benefit between countries large and small.

"May the friendship between the Maldives and China remain as constant as the ocean that unites us and as enduring as the stars that guide us," said M. Muizzu, expressing the republic's readiness to deepen cooperation with China in politics, trade, culture, education, and other areas in order to jointly build a sustainable and prosperous future.

The reception was attended by approximately 250 guests, including Vice President Hussein Mohammed Latif, cabinet ministers, legislators, representatives of various sectors of the country, foreign diplomats in the Maldives, as well as representatives of Chinese companies and the Chinese diaspora. –0–
