Almaty, September 30 (Xinhua) — Over the past decades, China has demonstrated impressive achievements in socioeconomic development. Rapid growth, digital transformation, breakthrough innovation, and large-scale social programs have transformed the country into a global leader whose decisions largely determine the world's future. This opinion was expressed by Fatimabibi Daulet, professor of the Department of Chinese Studies at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU), in an exclusive interview with Xinhua.
According to the professor, China's poverty alleviation program has become particularly significant, becoming a historic event and an example for developing countries.
Citing a personal example, F. Daulet said that earlier this year she was privileged to complete a month-long training course in India under the ITEC (Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Programme), which focused on the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
"During my studies, I had the opportunity to interact with colleagues from Africa, who particularly emphasized China's significant contribution to their countries' development—from large-scale infrastructure projects to educational initiatives and social programs. It became clear to me that China's successes go beyond its domestic achievements: they have strengthened its role as a key player in global processes," she shared.
According to F. Daulet, China is not simply sharing its experience today; it is shaping new horizons for global cooperation. At the center of this global agenda is the Belt and Road Initiative, as well as the concept of global governance aimed at creating sustainable and equitable mechanisms for international coordination.
"This is a search for common answers to challenges that affect all of humanity: climate change, energy security, digital transformation, national health, and educational development," the sinologist explained.
The professor noted that KazNU is actively involved in these processes. It hosts a branch of Northwestern Polytechnical University in Xi'an, a Kazakh-Chinese joint laboratory for "Earth Remote Sensing Technologies and Applications," and the Center for Sustainable Development in Central Asia, which aims to address pressing social issues in the region and in the Belt and Road Initiative member states. KazNU has currently established fruitful academic ties with 65 leading universities in China.
"Over the past year, I've had the opportunity to participate in dozens of academic events: international forums, symposiums, and conferences held in China. These platforms bring together progressive humanity around the ideas of collaboration and knowledge exchange. They serve not only as a space for academic discussions but also as a source of strong professional connections that foster the rapprochement of cultures and countries," the Xinhua interviewee told Xinhua.
F. Daulet noted the atmosphere of trust and openness inherent in these academic forums, where every voice is heard and valued, and the joint search for solutions becomes the driving force of global scientific and cultural progress.
“That is why for Kazakhstan, for Al-Farabi KazNU, and for the entire academic community of Central Asia, participation in these processes is not just an opportunity, but a historical mission: to be part of a greater history, where regional development and international cooperation merge for the sake of a sustainable and harmonious future,” concluded F. Daulet. –0–
