BEIJING, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) — Beijing Daxing International Airport expects a significant increase in passenger traffic during the National Day holiday and the traditional Zhongqiu (Mid-Autumn or Moon Festival) holiday, which runs from October 1 to 8.
During this period, the airport is expected to handle 7,925 flights and approximately 1.308 million passengers, representing an increase of 4.6 percent and 6.1 percent, respectively, compared to the same period last year. According to preliminary estimates, the airport's combined inbound and outbound passenger traffic will amount to 140,000 person-times.
Domestic travel will primarily be for family visits and tourism, with high demand expected for routes connecting major urban areas such as the Yangtze River Delta, the Pearl River Delta, and the Chengdu-Chongqing region. Internationally, popular destinations will include Osaka, Seoul, Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur, and Doha.
Since its opening in September 2019, Daxing Airport has handled more than 182 million passengers and 1.34 million flights. Currently, 70 airlines operate at the airport.
