Tbilisi, September 30 (Xinhua) — Georgia's gross domestic product (GDP) will grow by 7.0 percent in 2025, up from the 6.0 percent forecast in April, and is expected to slow to 5.0 percent in 2026, according to a press release from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) office in Georgia published on Tuesday, citing the ADB's September Asian Development Outlook report.
According to the report, GDP growth is supported by strong performance in the services, information and communications sectors, robust private consumption and a doubling of foreign direct investment.
ADB Country Director for Georgia Leslie Bierman noted that the country will leverage its strategic location and transport network to increase trade and transit volumes, and will continue reforms to ensure sustainable long-term growth.
The inflation forecast has been maintained at 4.0 percent in 2025 and 3.0 percent in 2026, driven by lower global fuel prices, the strengthening of the lari, and the country's fiscal policy.
In the first half of 2025, the national currency, the lari, appreciated by 3.5 percent, and the budget deficit amounted to 3.0 percent of GDP. Georgia's public debt is 35 percent of GDP. –0–
