BEIJING, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) — The first Xinjiang International Photo Contest "Future Motors Cup" officially kicked off in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on Sunday, according to a post on the official WeChat account of the Xinjiang Daily daily.

The event was organized to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Xinjiang Autonomous Region and to showcase Xinjiang's majestic natural landscapes, humanitarian culture, and development achievements. A special section for photo contest entries is available on the Tianshan website in Chinese, English, and Russian.

According to the publication, the competition accepts two categories of entries. The documentary photography category covers topics such as humanitarian life, folk culture and customs, the protection of intangible cultural heritage, and the construction of key public welfare projects and major engineering projects in Xinjiang. The natural landscapes category covers natural ecosystems, cultural monuments and historical sites, cultural and tourism resources, and urban development landscapes in Xinjiang.

The jury consists of renowned photographers from both home and abroad. Submissions will close on December 1, 2025. Following the selection, an awards ceremony will be held, and a permanent exhibition of the competition entries will open at the Xinjiang Grand Theatre.

The competition is led by the Information Office of the People's Government of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and organized by the Editorial Office of the Xinjiang Daily /Xinjiang Newspaper Media Corporation/, the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Literary and Art Workers Association, and the Xinjiang Cultural and Tourism Investment Corporation. -0-
