Beijing, September 29 (Xinhua) — Digital technologies and modern Generation Z are fundamentally changing the landscape of cultural interaction between Russia and China, serving as key drivers of its democratization and intensification. This assessment was given by Tatyana Urzhumtseva, Counselor at the Russian Embassy in China and Director of the Russian Cultural Center in Beijing (RCC), in an interview with a correspondent from the China News Service.

In her opinion, modern technologies, by erasing geographical and financial barriers, have opened a new era in humanitarian exchanges.

"Digital technologies create space for dialogue and even polylogue. This is a powerful tool that has made cultural exchange between young people in Russia and China widespread," emphasized Tatyana Urzhumtseva.

She cited the Moscow Cultural Festival held in Beijing in June as a successful example, featuring digital fireworks displays and VR experiences that allowed visitors to experience Moscow while in Beijing.

Tatyana Urzhumtseva assigned a special role to Generation Z in this process. According to her, young people, who are at home in the digital environment, are introducing their peers to the authentic lives of both countries through independent films, video blogs, and cosplay, thereby dispelling stereotypes and creating a new, more sincere image of the neighboring countries.

Tatyana Urzhumtseva expressed confidence that the future of Russian-Chinese cultural cooperation lies in deepening partnerships in the performing arts, film, and publishing, as well as in the joint creation of digital platforms such as virtual museums and online exhibitions.

“This will enrich the content of Russian-Chinese relations, making a new contribution to the diversity of world culture,” she concluded. -0-
