The Hanshan National Nature Reserve was established in 2013 in the Jarud Qi district of Tongliao City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Situated at the southern foot of the Greater Khingan Mountains, it serves as an ecological barrier and water protection zone for the Khorchin Steppe.
