JINAN, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) — China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea (ROK) have adopted a new joint action plan on environmental cooperation for the period 2026-2030, Chinese Minister of Ecology and Environment Huang Runqiu announced on Sunday.
As Huang Runqiu announced at the 26th Trilateral Meeting of Environmental Ministers of China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea, held in Yantai City, Shandong Province, eastern China, the plan outlines a series of joint activities focused on eight priority areas, laying a solid foundation for trilateral environmental cooperation over the next five years.
According to him, the three countries' environmental agencies are strengthening practical cooperation to jointly address regional and global environmental challenges. Three phases of such plans have been implemented to date, achieving tangible results in air pollution control, sand and dust storm prevention, and chemical management for environmental protection.
Huang Runqiu added that strengthening environmental cooperation, promoting regional green development and improving people's ecological well-being are in the common interests of the three countries, and China is willing to work with the other two countries to raise trilateral environmental cooperation to a higher level.
The annual meeting of environment ministers has been held by the three countries in turn since 1999. -0-
