BEIJING, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) — On September 27, a master class on the theory and practice of teaching Russian phonetics was held at the Institute of Russian Language at Heilongjiang University (Harbin, northeast China) as part of the Belt and Road Initiative. More than 100 teachers and students from universities and research institutes across the country joined the class, the institute reported on its public account on the Chinese social media platform WeChat.
Xu Meiling, Deputy Director of the Institute of Russian Language at Heilongjiang University, noted that this master class, drawing on the institute's extensive experience in teaching Russian and the strengths of academic research in Russian phonology, focused on topics such as the theory of teaching Russian phonetics, innovations in teaching Russian phonetics, phonetic norms, and discourse practice. The event aimed to train Russian specialists with a thorough understanding of Russian phonetic theory and the ability to effectively teach phonetics.
According to her, this master class not only contributed to the internationalization of Chinese universities in the field of teaching Chinese and Russian languages and phonetic studies of the Russian language, but also gave new impetus to the development of the specialty "Russian language."
The keynote speaker at this master class was Olga Korotkova, Associate Professor of the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language (RFL) in the Philology Faculty of Moscow State University. She vividly explored Russian pronunciation skills, the laws of intonation, and other key aspects of Russian phonetics, allowing students to truly appreciate the rhythmic beauty of Russian speech. Her expert explanations also helped the Chinese teachers overcome practical difficulties and inspired them to reflect deeply on the study of intonation in Russian.
The successful completion of this master class fully demonstrated the efforts of the Institute of Russian Language at Heilongjiang University to educate Russianists in the new era, effectively expanded the channels of interaction between Chinese teachers, students and foreign scholars, contributed to the further implementation of academic innovations, as well as the interdisciplinary integrated development of this institute in the field of Russian phonology. -0-
