Beijing, September 29 (Xinhua) — From September 23 to 28, the Russian Cultural Center (RCC) in Beijing successfully hosted the cultural project "ECHO of the 17 Moments Festival." The project, dedicated to strengthening humanitarian ties between China and Russia, became a highlight in the cultural life of the Chinese capital, the center reported on its public account on the Chinese social network WeChat.
"This festival became a bridge across which not only films flowed, but also emotions, thoughts, and parts of the souls of our peoples. And we see how the solid foundation of friendship between Russia and China is being cemented by new, vibrant cultural ties," noted Tatyana Urzhumtseva, head of the Russian Cultural Center in Beijing.
The festival organizers offered a rich program for guests of all ages. Audiences saw the best Russian films of recent years, including "Going Vertical," "The Crew," "Mr. Knockout," and "Salyut-7."
A screening of the Chinese feature film "Red Swan" by renowned director Gu Rong, starring Soviet cinema legend Vyacheslav Tikhonov, attracted particular attention. The event also featured a special program showcasing contemporary cinema from the CIS countries.
The central event was the Saturday concert program dedicated to Russian-Chinese friendship. It featured Russian artists who presented both classical and contemporary compositions.
Animation workshops led by animation director Nikolai Shakin were particularly popular with the festival's young guests. Thanks to his sensitive guidance, the children created their own animated film based on the Russian folk tale "The Turnip," which became one of the festival's most vibrant and touching events.
The festival not only introduced Beijing audiences to contemporary Russian culture, but also clearly demonstrated the deep interest of Chinese youth in Russia, as evidenced by the active participation of students from China's leading university, the RCC in Beijing noted.
