Beijing, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) — Amid strengthening Chinese-Russian educational cooperation, the Russian Center of Dalian International Studies University (DUIU) held a cultural exchange event between Chinese and Russian students on September 25, titled "New Academic Year – New Start," as part of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization University (SCO) project, the center announced on its public account on the Chinese social media platform WeChat.
The event, held offline at the Russian Center, brought together master's and bachelor's degree students from the 2025 class, as well as Russian students.
During the event, Chinese and international faculty members delivered welcoming remarks, wishing students success in the new semester and encouraging them to boldly explore new things, actively communicate, and strive for excellence in this new stage.
The students' amateur performances set the tone for the event, filling it with energy and enthusiasm. They joyfully showcased their talents on stage and together created a vibrant atmosphere of cultural dialogue between China and Russia.
Olga, a teacher from Belarus who works at the DUIL Institute of Foreign Languages, held a communicative lesson on the topic "New Academic Year – New Start," encouraging students to actively use new words and expressions to develop their oral communication skills.
Chinese and Russian students actively engaged in discussions on current issues within the four professional fields of study at SCO University: regional studies, IT, law, and journalism. This exchange of views allowed them to simultaneously improve their language skills and deepen intercultural understanding.
The event not only served as a platform for showcasing the talents and communication between students from both countries, but also as an important step toward deepening mutual understanding and dialogue between students from China and Russia. The DULAN Russian Center will continue to adhere to the principles of openness and inclusiveness, creating high-quality language and cultural projects and contributing to the training of a new generation of specialists with an international perspective and intercultural communication skills.
