BEIJING, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) — Wang Huning, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), called on Sunday for consolidation and development of a patriotic united front to accumulate strength for comprehensively advancing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through Chinese-style modernization.
Wang Huning made the appeal at a celebratory reception in Beijing to mark the upcoming 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, celebrated on October 1.
Pointing to the great achievements achieved by China under the leadership of the CPC over the past 76 years, the CPPCC National Committee Chairman stated that since the 18th National Congress of the CPC in 2012, China has entered an irreversible historical process of national rejuvenation and has emerged before the world as a prosperous country at the zenith of its development.
Wang Huning recalled that the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, to be held in October, will consider proposals for drafting the 15th Five-Year Plan for National Socioeconomic Development (2026-2030). He stated that the period 2026-2030 will be a key stage for the country to consolidate its foundation and fully implement socialist modernization.
Speaking about the Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions, Wang Huning reaffirmed his commitment to comprehensively, meticulously, and steadfastly implementing the policy of "one country, two systems" to fully realize the principle of "Hong Kong and Macao governed by patriots," and to support these megacities in developing their economies, improving people's livelihoods, and integrating them into the overall development of the country.
Regarding Taiwan, the CPPCC National Committee Chairman assured that the central government will firmly adhere to the one-China principle and the 1992 consensus, promote cooperation and exchanges across the Taiwan Strait in various fields, and firmly oppose separatist activities for "Taiwan independence" and foreign interference.
Wang Huning also pledged support for overseas Chinese, returned Chinese, and their relatives to play a more active role in promoting Chinese-style modernization, national reunification, and building a community with a shared future for mankind.
The reception was attended by approximately 760 representatives from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and the Chinese diaspora. –0–
