BEIJING, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) — The first batch of flood relief supplies provided by the Chinese government to Pakistan was dispatched from Zhengzhou, capital of central China's Henan Province, on Sunday, according to the People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF).
Supplies including tents and blankets were delivered by two PLA Air Force Y-20 aircraft to Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan.
Pakistan has been suffering from severe floods since June, causing numerous casualties and property damage. China has provided Pakistan with $2 million in emergency aid.
To further support Pakistan's post-flood recovery, the Chinese government has decided to allocate additional disaster relief funds totaling 100 million yuan (approximately US$14 million).
The remaining shipments of humanitarian aid are currently being urgently prepared and will be sent to Pakistan in the coming days. -0-
