BEIJING, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) — During the upcoming eight-day holiday to mark National Day (PRC National Day), which falls annually on October 1, and the traditional Zhongqiu Festival (Mid-Autumn Festival or Moon Festival), which falls on October 6 this year, the average daily number of border crossings at Chinese checkpoints is expected to reach 2 million, the National Immigration Administration of China reported on Sunday.
According to the agency, border crossings and checkpoints across the country are preparing for a sharp increase in travelers in both directions across the border between October 1 and 8, with the peak of cross-border tourist traffic expected on October 1 and 6.
The agency noted that the coincidence of two holidays this year, as well as travel-friendly policy measures such as visa-free entry into the country and the resumption of previously suspended flights, are contributing to the growth in demand for cross-border travel.
To cope with the influx of passengers, the National Administration of Immigration and Border Protection of the People's Republic of China has instructed border control agencies across the country to strengthen monitoring of cross-border passenger flow and checkpoint operations, and to coordinate with other agencies to ensure safe, efficient, and smooth customs clearance at all checkpoints across the country. -0-
