Wuhan, September 27 (Xinhua) — China's Yangtze River Economic Belt continues to drive high-quality development, facilitating the transition to greener, more innovative, and more integrated growth, according to a think tank report published Friday.

The document, titled "A Mighty River Nurtures a Great Nation – Achievements, Inspirations and Global Significance of Yangtze River Governance in the New Era," was released by Xinhua Institute, a think tank affiliated with the Xinhua News Agency, at the 2025 Great Rivers Dialogue in Wuhan, central China's Hubei Province.

According to the document, the Yangtze River Economic Belt, which comprises 11 provincial-level administrative divisions along it and accounts for nearly half of China's population and GDP, is promoting modernization and high-quality growth, strengthening its position as the nation's engine of innovation-driven transformation.

Green and innovative development has provided significant impetus to the region's economic growth, with its total GRP and contribution to the country's overall economic growth steadily increasing.

In 2024, the Yangtze River Economic Belt's foreign trade volume reached a record 19.85 trillion yuan (about 2.79 trillion US dollars), including 5.61 trillion yuan in high-tech imports and exports, up 7 percent year-on-year, the report noted.

The document also notes the deep industrial integration and dynamic regional cooperation among the 11 provinces and cities located along the Yangtze River Economic Belt, which has contributed to the creation of new competitive advantages. -0-
