BEIJING, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) — Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday sent congratulations to Peter Mutharika on his election as President of Malawi.

In his message, Xi Jinping noted that China and Malawi are sincere and good friends and partners who provide mutual support. He also emphasized that President-elect P. Mutharika made a significant contribution to the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2007.

Since mutual diplomatic recognition, relations between China and Malawi have developed steadily and orderly, with political mutual trust constantly deepening and fruitful results achieved in practical cooperation, Xi Jinping said, adding that the two countries have supported each other on issues concerning their core interests and major concerns.
