Beijing, September 26 (Xinhua) — China intends to work with Russia to advance energy cooperation to a higher level, thereby making a more significant contribution to energy security and sustainable development for both countries and the world as a whole, Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang announced on Friday.
Ding Xuexiang, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee, made the statement at the 22nd meeting of the China-Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Energy Cooperation, which he chaired in Beijing together with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak.
Ding Xuexiang emphasized that energy cooperation is a model of equal, mutually beneficial, and practical interaction between China and Russia. He noted that in recent years, the two leaders have held numerous meetings and telephone conversations, maintained in-depth strategic communication, and guided the continuous strengthening and development of the China-Russia comprehensive energy partnership, bringing tangible benefits to the peoples of both countries.
Ding Xuexiang proposed that China and Russia deepen the integration of interests, steadily advance the construction and implementation of key projects, and consolidate the key achievements of their energy cooperation.
The Chinese vice premier also called on both sides to adhere to the complementarity of their advantages, unlock the potential for cooperation in areas such as renewable energy, hydrogen energy and energy storage, and promote the transition to and development based on clean energy.
Ding Xuexiang also called for strengthening coordination and collaboration, jointly putting genuine multilateralism into practice, and advancing the implementation of the Global Energy Governance Initiative.

The Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation stated that Russia intends to work together with China to fully utilize the guiding and coordinating role of the Russian-Chinese Intergovernmental Commission on Energy Cooperation, expand bilateral cooperation in the energy sector, advance the implementation of approved projects, and more effectively support the development of high-level Russian-Chinese relations.
