BANGKOK, September 25 (Xinhua) — Thailand's new coalition government, led by Prime Minister Anuthin Chanvirakun, was sworn in on Wednesday following the king's approval. The coalition leader is the Phumchaithai Party (Pride of Thailand).

Thirty-six cabinet ministers took the oath of allegiance before an audience with King Maha Vajiralongkorn at a traditional ceremony held at Dusit Palace in Bangkok.

The ceremony was attended by A. Chanvirakun and six deputy prime ministers, as well as other ministers and their deputies representing factions of the ruling bloc.

In the evening, the Prime Minister chaired a special cabinet meeting to prepare a policy statement that the head of government is expected to present to parliament next week.

Phumchaithai Party leader A. Chanvirakun, 59, was elected Thailand's 32nd prime minister after winning parliamentary elections in early September. –0–
