Beijing, September 25 (Xinhua) — The first batch of electric buses from the Chinese brand BYD rolled off the production line in Kazakhstan recently, the news portal cv.ce.cn (Chinese Commercial Vehicles) reports.

The first BYD B12 vehicles, the latest generation of BYD's 12-meter electric city buses, have been produced at the Astana Motors plant. The new model is equipped with a Blade battery integrated into the chassis. The battery is reportedly integrated into the structure, acting as structural beams, increasing overall strength.

As proven by a series of extreme tests under the toughest conditions, including a nail penetration test, the innovative Blade battery is one of the safest in the world.

According to the portal, during a working meeting between high-ranking representatives of the Chinese auto giant BYD and the Kazakh side, which took place in July of this year, the possibility of establishing localized production of electric buses in Kazakhstan was discussed.

Then, in September of this year, at the 8th meeting of the China-Kazakhstan Business Council held in Beijing, BYD Commercial Vehicles Division head Tian Chunlong and Astana Motors founder Nurlan Smagulov signed a production cooperation agreement.

The electric bus production project in Almaty envisions a phased localization. According to the document, starting in 2026, the Astana Motors plant plans to enhance its technological processes and expand its production capacity.
