URUMQI, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) — Chinese President Xi Jinping attended a gala concert in Urumqi, the regional capital, on Wednesday evening to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, attended a gala concert titled "Beautiful Xinjiang" along with representatives of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang.
The concert program consisted of three parts. The first part recounted the energetic efforts of Xinjiang's socialist construction. The second part showcased the momentum brought by reform and opening-up in the region. The final part beautifully depicted the collective work of representatives of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang to realize their dreams in the new era.
The concert was also attended by high-ranking Chinese officials, including Wang Huning and Cai Qi.
Xi Jinping, along with a central party and government delegation, arrived in Urumqi on September 23 to participate in celebrations marking the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Republic. –0–
