An overpass will be built in the south of the capital. It will become part of an additional section of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter (MSD). This was announced by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Development Policy and Construction. Vladimir Efimov.
"An overpass over 300 meters long will be built as part of the construction and reconstruction of Kaspiyskaya Street on the main line of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter, at the intersection with Bakinskaya Street. Pre-assembly of the future overpass's superstructure is currently underway at the construction site. Reinforced concrete supports have already been installed. Once the preparatory work is complete, the span will begin to be pushed over the tracks of the Second Moscow Central Diameter," noted Vladimir Efimov.
Currently, 150 specialists are working on the new transport interchange. Once completed, a new route will open on the southern part of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter, from Kashirskoye Highway to the Paveletsky Line of the Moscow Railway.
"At the same time, several additional overpasses are being built on this section of the Moscow Highway, and a tunnel is being constructed under Bakinskaya Street, which is more than a third complete. The main work is scheduled for completion next year," added the head of the Moscow Department of Transport and Engineering Infrastructure Construction.
The new interchange will not only improve the efficiency of the Moscow Highway in the south but also enhance accessibility to five districts. It will also provide drivers with convenient access to the M-4 Don Highway and help reduce excess travel time on the highway by straightening a section of the road.
Mikhail Grigoryev, the general director of the contractor, announced that the superstructure will be slid onto the supports during the railway's maintenance windows. This is one of the most critical stages of the overpass's construction.
