Beijing, September 24. /Xinhua/ — China's announcement that it will not seek new special and differential treatment in current and future World Trade Organization (WTO) negotiations demonstrates the country's firm commitment to upholding the multilateral trading system, China's representative in international trade negotiations and Vice Minister of Commerce Li Chenggang said on Wednesday.

As Li Chenggang emphasized at a press conference, this statement, made on Tuesday in New York during a high-level conference on the Global Development Initiative, is an important declaration of China's position, made taking into account both the international and domestic situations.

Li Chenggang noted that this statement will give a strong impetus to the liberalization and facilitation of global trade and investment, and will also inject positive energy into the reform of the global economic governance system.

According to the Deputy Minister, China will, as always, firmly support the multilateral trading system and actively participate in WTO reform and the adjustment of international trade and economic rules.

China will firmly stand with developing country members of the WTO, put development at the center of WTO reform, promote more development-oriented outcomes, and ensure a more equitable and reasonable vector of global economic governance, Li Chenggang added.
