JOHANNESBURG, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) — The South Africa-China Trade and Investment Promotion Conference and the 9th China-South Africa Trade Fair opened here on Tuesday, attracting several thousand participants seeking to deepen trade and investment ties.

At the opening ceremony, South African Deputy Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition Zuko Godlimpi highlighted the steady growth of bilateral trade, describing the South Africa-China relationship as a key example of South-South cooperation based on strategic engagement.

“As the South African government, we remain committed to creating a business environment that supports trade and investment,” the official said.

Chinese Ambassador to South Africa Wu Peng stated that the conference aims to take advantage of the opportunities created by the heightened level of bilateral relations. He emphasized that the transfer of skills and technology will help South Africa achieve its development goals.

“Today, starting with trade and investment cooperation, we strive to translate our shared vision into real actions and solve global problems through practical cooperation,” the diplomat said.

At the three-day fair, more than 500 Chinese companies will present a wide range of products, including food, household appliances, textiles, agricultural products, and household items. –0–
