Beijing, September 24 (Xinhua) — A presentation of projects within the framework of trade and investment cooperation between the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region (North China) and Russia's Trans-Baikal Territory was recently held in the city of Chita in Russia's Trans-Baikal Territory.
As noted on the autonomous region's government website, this trade and economic event was primarily aimed at "strengthening interaction with Russia's Zabaikalsky Krai" with the goal of further deepening cooperation between the two administrative entities. Around 120 representatives from Chinese and Russian government and business circles gathered to discuss prospects for cooperation and outline development plans.
Speaking at the presentation, Luo Qing, Director of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region's Bureau of Commerce, stated that in recent years, China and Russia have jointly forged a new path of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and mutually beneficial cooperation between major neighboring countries. Cooperation in areas such as economics, trade, and science and technology is constantly expanding.
He noted that the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and the Trans-Baikal Territory are adjacent regions, creating unique advantages for mutually beneficial cooperation. He noted that the parties can strengthen industrial cooperation and deepen local collaboration in areas such as energy resources, organic agricultural and livestock products, and biomedicine.
Zhargalma Badmazhapova, Minister of Economic Development of the Zabaikalsky Krai, stated that the Zabaikalsky Krai is actively developing partnerships with neighboring regions of China. Thanks to its abundant natural resources, convenient transportation corridors, and extensive investment opportunities, the region is creating favorable conditions for sustainable economic growth and expanded partnerships.
She presented the Trans-Baikal Territory's "Tea Road" tourism project to the event participants, detailing the region's tourism development potential and its importance as a transportation hub. Zh. Badmazhapova invited all parties to take advantage of the opportunities for tourism development in the Trans-Baikal Territory and jointly participate in trade and economic cooperation projects.
Liu Tongwen, Director of the Hulunbuir City Commerce Department in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, noted that Hulunbuir is home to four border crossings into Russia, making it an important gateway for the autonomous region and China's "northward opening." In recent years, exchanges and cooperation between Hulunbuir and neighboring Russian regions in economic, trade, tourism, culture, and other areas have steadily expanded, yielding abundant results.
Following the presentation, the Chinese and Russian sides held in-depth discussions on a number of areas, including the creation of a logistics park in the Trans-Baikal Territory, the construction of a cross-border oil pipeline and a cross-border bridge across a border river, the implementation of an intelligent rail transport project at checkpoints, and the development of tourism.
