TEHRAN, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) — Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on Tuesday warned against nuclear talks with the United States under the current circumstances, saying it would not serve the Islamic Republic's national interests.

“In the current situation, negotiations with the US government are, first and foremost, not in our national interests, do not bring us any benefit, and will not prevent any harm,” he said in a televised address.

A. Khamenei added that dialogue would even lead to “major” losses for Iran, some of which could prove “irreparable.”

According to him, the American side had predetermined the outcome of the negotiations by demanding a suspension of uranium enrichment and all nuclear activities in Iran. Such a process, he emphasized, is not negotiations, but rather "a dictate and imposition."

He noted that the US also demanded that Tehran abandon its short-, medium-, and long-range missiles in order to deprive Iran of the ability to respond to potential acts of aggression.

A. Khamenei listed some of the US's hostile actions against Iran in recent years. Negotiations with Washington on the Iranian nuclear issue, as well as other issues, will lead to a "complete deadlock," he warned.
