Guangzhou, September 24 (Xinhua) — Typhoon Ragasa, the 18th to hit in 2025, made landfall in southern China's Guangdong Province around 5 p.m. on Wednesday, the provincial meteorological service reported.
Typhoon Ragasa, with maximum wind speeds of 40 meters per second near its epicenter, made landfall on Hailing Island in Yangjiang City, Guangdong Province.
As of 10 p.m. Tuesday, more than 1.89 million residents had been evacuated to safe locations across the province.
Forecasters predict that Ragasa will continue to move westward at a speed of about 20 km/h, gradually losing strength. -0-
