CHANGCHUN, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) — FAW-Volkswagen, a joint venture between Germany's Volkswagen Group and China's FAW Group, held a ceremony Tuesday at its production base in Changchun, capital of northeast China's Jilin Province, to mark the first batch of export-bound vehicles rolling off the assembly line.
FAW-Volkswagen announced that a batch of 554 Magotan and Sagitar sedans will be shipped to the Middle East as part of its strategy to expand into overseas markets.
FAW-Volkswagen CEO Chen Bin said the company views expanding its overseas presence as a key growth driver and aims to become a leading exporter among Chinese-foreign auto joint ventures.
FAW-Volkswagen added that, along with the Volkswagen brand, the Jetta brand will also be focused on foreign markets, the first of which will be Central Asia.
Founded in 1991, the joint venture currently produces models under the Audi, Volkswagen and Jetta brands and has five production bases in Changchun, Foshan, Chengdu, Qingdao and Tianjin. –0–
