JAKARTA, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) — Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto called for an end to the war in Gaza and vowed that Indonesia is ready to send peacekeeping troops under a UN mandate.
The President made the statement in his address to the High-Level International Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution at the UN Headquarters in New York on Monday.
The Indonesian President stressed that ending the war in Gaza must be a top international priority, noting that Indonesia is ready to actively participate in this, including by sending peacekeeping forces in accordance with the UN mandate.
The President also expressed deep concern over the ongoing humanitarian tragedy in Gaza.
"Thousands of innocent people, many of them women and children, have died. There is a threat of mass starvation. A humanitarian catastrophe is unfolding before our eyes. We condemn all acts of violence against innocent civilians," he said in a statement released by Indonesia's State Secretariat on Tuesday.
