The Rosneft team successfully competed in the Moscow Marathon, winning silver medals in the corporate relay after a tough battle.
This is the twelfth time the company has participated in one of the year's most important running events, demonstrating outstanding athletic achievements each year. The team's results are among the top five in the history of the Moscow Marathon.
This year, a record number of athletes registered for the Moscow Marathon – over 50,000 from Russia and neighboring countries. Athletes ran along a revamped course: along the capital's main streets, past Stalin-era skyscrapers, the Bolshoi Theatre, the Polytechnic Museum, and the Kremlin. Fans cheered on the athletes at every stop.
A total of 177 Rosneft employees took part in the Moscow Marathon last weekend, completing the 10 km and 42.2 km distances in both the individual and corporate categories.
The 10 km race took place on Saturday, September 20. The 42.2 km marathon competition took place on Sunday. The corporate relay featured 138 teams representing major Russian companies, as well as amateur and professional running communities. The final time for the silver-winning Rosneft team was 2 hours, 20 minutes, and 41 seconds. Rosneft's runners improved on last year's result by almost 5 minutes, with an average pace of 3 minutes, 20 seconds.
In the individual competition at both distances, many of the Company's athletes broke their personal records.
To support the athletes, a Rosneft corporate tent was set up in the start and finish area of the Luzhniki Olympic Complex, where all Company employees could have a snack or rest before or after the race.
Supporting mass, professional, and youth sports and healthy lifestyles is a key focus of Rosneft and its subsidiaries' social work. The Company finances the construction of sports complexes, ice arenas, and multifunctional sports grounds in the regions where it operates.
