Baghdad, September 22 (Xinhua) — Two Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Service (CTS) officers were killed and an intelligence officer was wounded in an explosion Sunday during a security operation in Anbar Province in western Iraq, the Iraqi army said.
It is noted that the incident occurred at 15:00 local time /12:00 GMT/, when combined forces of the CTS and the Anbar Intelligence and Counter-Terrorism Directorate were inspecting the site of a recent airstrike on Islamic State (IS) militant hideouts in Anbar.
Iraq declared victory over ISIS in 2017, but remnants of the group continue to attack security forces and civilians in cities, deserts, and remote areas. –0–
