BEIJING, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) — An exhibition of Chinese and Russian fine arts and design opened Monday at the Acheng District Art Gallery in Harbin, capital of Heilongjiang Province, northeast China.
According to local media, the event was jointly organized by Heilongjiang Sanjiang Vocational College of Fine Arts, Transbaikal State University (Russia), and the Acheng District government.
The exhibition featured 15 works by Russian artists, 50 works by Chinese teachers and students, and more than 40 design works from 13 groups, fully demonstrating the creative level of teachers and students from both countries in the field of fine arts and design.
This exhibition, drawing on the important momentum of Chinese-Russian cultural cooperation entering a new era, uses art and design as a connecting link, meticulously crafting a visual poem co-written by educators, artists, and youth from both countries. These exhibits are not only a demonstration of mastery but also a profound reading and fusion of the two countries' cultural codes. The rich, epic spirit of Russian painting and the sublime spirituality of Chinese painting, combined with design and creativity, generate a new intercultural visual discourse and make a vibrant contribution to this year's events as part of the China-Russia Years of Culture.
Wang Yinghai, rector of Heilongjiang Sanjiang Vocational College of Fine Arts, said that the event is both a review of the results of cooperation between the two universities and a comprehensive introduction to the achievements of in-depth cooperation between the college and the Acheng District government and local enterprises.
He expressed hope that this project will foster comprehensive multi-level and multi-disciplinary exchanges and cooperation between China and Russia, universities, and enterprises, particularly in achieving innovative breakthroughs in the transformation of pedagogical achievements and the integrated development of production, education, and the city. He also invited more Russian faculty, students, and business representatives to visit the university for educational purposes, and Harbin for tourism and exchanges.
According to reports, cooperation between Heilongjiang Sanjiang Vocational College of Fine Arts and Transbaikal State University has lasted for over two years. The institutions conduct mutual management visits, student and trainee exchanges, and, as part of the China-Russia Years of Culture, host alternate exhibitions of fine arts and design, as well as forums on higher education in culture and the arts, thereby promoting bilateral cooperation across a wider range of areas, deepening it, and achieving tangible results.
