Baku, September 22 (Xinhua) — Azerbaijan and the United Arab Emirates signed a $5 billion agreement on Monday to develop a modern coastal area around Lake Boyukshor in Baku, the AZERTAC news agency reported.

The document was signed by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economy and Abu Dhabi-based Modon Holding, a company specializing in real estate, investments and project management, at the 1st Azerbaijan International Investment Forum.

The project includes the construction of healthcare facilities, commercial, educational, and hotel complexes. Azerbaijani Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov called it "a flagship project for the country's sustainable urban development."
