Tirana, September 19 (Xinhua) — Albania's parliament on Thursday confirmed Edi Rama as prime minister for a fourth consecutive term. He pledged to accelerate the country's accession to the European Union (EU) by 2030.

E. Rama, the only candidate for the post, received 82 votes in the 140-seat parliament. His Socialist Party won a majority in the parliamentary elections held in May.

"Albania's accession to the EU by 2030 is a central element of this mandate," E. Rama told lawmakers, emphasizing that integration into the bloc will shape the government's reforms in the coming years.

In a move aimed at increasing transparency in public procurement, the Prime Minister last week proposed using the artificial intelligence (AI) tool Diella to manage and award tenders. During a video address, the AI system stated that it would not replace civil servants, but rather assist them.
