BEIJING, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) — In August 2025, China's total civil aviation traffic grew 8 percent year-on-year to reach a record high of 15.18 billion tonne-kilometers, according to data released Friday by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).

According to CAAC data, for the first eight months of 2025, the above-mentioned figure amounted to 108.33 billion tonne-kilometers, which is 10.5 percent more than for the same period last year.

From January to August, the country's air transport carried more than 6.51 million tons of cargo and mail, a 14.5 percent increase year-on-year.

In August, passenger traffic in China's civil aviation increased by 3.3 percent year-on-year, reaching over 75.36 million passenger journeys. In particular, international passenger traffic reached 7.47 million passenger journeys, an increase of 15.3 percent compared to the same period last year.

According to the CAAC, from January to August, the volume of passenger air travel in the country increased by 5.3 percent to 520 million person-times. -0-
