NANJING, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) — China's Ministry of Public Security on Thursday proposed the establishment of an international alliance to combat fraud in the telecommunications and internet sectors.

The initiative was put forward at one of the sub-forums of the Global Forum on Public Security Cooperation 2025, which was held from Tuesday to Thursday in Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province, East China.

A senior ministry official stated at a sub-forum that fraud in the telecommunications and cyber spheres has become a global problem, the solution to which requires strengthening international law enforcement cooperation, improving interaction mechanisms, and creating a reliable system of global governance.

This initiative underscores China's commitment to developing a new international approach to combating telecommunications and cybercrime. Law enforcement agencies across the world need coordination and cooperation to counter these threats, he added.

China has already achieved significant results through cross-border cooperation with law enforcement agencies in countries including Spain, the UAE, Myanmar, Indonesia, the Philippines, Laos, Thailand, and Cambodia. These efforts have resulted in the arrest of 68,000 suspects of fraud abroad, who have subsequently been extradited to China.

The subforum was attended by approximately 100 police officers, officials, and experts from 30 countries and regions, as well as international organizations. They proposed a joint initiative to combat fraud in the telecommunications and cyberspace.
